T

During the 2008-2009 academic year the department had 243 majors, 27 full-time faculty members, a computer systems manager, a systems support technician, and one administrative specialist.  Work-study students and computer lab assistants were hired as needed.

The department offices and classrooms are located in M. Maceo Nance Jr. Hall, which also is the location of three computer laboratories.

Two labs are equipped with Windows based computers with the most recent processors for students taking the computer technology course as part of their general education requirements. The other lab is equipped with Sun Ultra 24 UNIX workstations.  These workstations have a virtualization capability, which utilize LINUX as well as other operating systems.

The University maintains a Digital Alpha/VMS cluster which is used for administrative and academic purposes. Other labs throughout campus house Windows and Macintosh operating system computers for student use.

Much of the work and activities relating to the operation of the department are achieved through faculty involvement with departmental committees and student organizations.  The following departmental student organizations are available for our students: the Euclidean Club, Kappa Mu Epsilon National Mathematics Honor Society, Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Student Chapter, and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter.

The faculty has published works in prestigious journals and several of the faculty has jointly or individually written textbooks used for courses in the department.

The faculty at this comprehensive teaching university is readily available to assist students with their class work and to help them achieve their goals and objectives.
